§ 62-2. Tax established; disposition of proceeds.

  • (a)

    There may be levied a tax for library purposes of not to exceed 0.15 percent of the full, fair cash value of all the taxable property in the city, as equalized or assessed by the department of revenue, to be collected in like manner with other general taxes of the city. The proceeds shall be deposited in a special fund, which shall be known as the library fund.

    (b)

    The proceeds of the library tax shall be paid by the officer charged with the collection thereof to the board of trustees of the library. Expenditures from the library fund shall be under the direction of the board of trustees.
