§ 6-117. Training required.

  • (a)

    All liquor licensees serving alcohol must have a minimum of one alcohol server on-duty that has completed Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training ("BASSET") and obtained BASSET certification.

    (b)

    For purposes of this section, "alcohol servers" means persons who sell or serve open containers of alcoholic beverages at retail and anyone whose job description entails the checking of identification for the purchase of open containers of alcoholic beverages at retail or for entry into the licensed premises including all liquor managers and management personnel at the premises license for sale of alcoholic beverage for on-premises consumption.

    (c)

    BASSET certification shall be obtained from a program licensed by the State of Illinois Liquor Control Commission and meeting the requirements of 235 ILCS 5/6-27.1 and 77 Ill. Adm. Code 3500, as amended from time to time.

    (d)

    A copy of a valid BASSET certification for the on-duty alcohol server(s) shall be available at the license premises for inspection by the city police department, the local liquor control commissioner or his designee.
